What is Verity Networks?

Verity Networks, Inc. provides network and website monitoring services from multiple locations, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

What services do you offer?

We offer comprehensive monitoring of your website/s, internal SQL servers and other critical operating system services with our advanced monitoring services. We can check your site as often as every minute all day and night. That’s 24hours a day, 7days a week, 365 days a year.

What kind of server systems can you monitor?

We can monitor Web Servers, E-Mail Servers, and FTP Servers and other critical operating system services. If you have special requirements, please feel free to contact us.

Is there a contract for Verity Networks services?

No there is no contract, you are free to upgrade, change your account at any time.

What is the difference between a 60-day trial and a Standard Account?

Our free 60 day trial allows you to evaluate our agents, reports, and notification systems before committing to a monthly account. You have 60 days to evaluate our services against your website. The trial account doesn't include SMS notification and only monitors your servers every 60 minutes. Our availability monitoring services offer full access to SMS messaging and can be configured to monitor your servers at intervals up to 1 minute. For a more complete description on the different service levels and which monitoring services each level provides, click here.

Do I need to download or install software to use your network monitoring services?

Our network monitoring agents work the same way as normal browsers, e-mail, telnet, and FTP clients work.   We do have scripting-oriented agents which can perform detailed monitoring of your systems behind your firewalls.   These agents, which run on our servers, are coupled to scripts which run inside the web servers and peform their analysis and tests and report the results to our servers.

Does monitoring my site affect my bandwidth?

Our network and website monitoring uses very little bandwidth to check your site. The bandwidth consumed by our monitoring agents is comparable to a typical browser. In fact, it can actually be less due to the limited connections performed in comparison to an actual browser.

What service protocols can you monitor?

We can monitor TCP connectivity, HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, POP3, FTP, SQL Servers, Custom Scripts (XML), and HTML full page downloads.

What is an agent?

Using our flexible control panel, you configure "agents" and point them to your servers.   These agents have server-side components which periodically monitor your site from external locations and trigger events in our alerting system whenever a fault is discovered.

Can I have multiple types of notifications for each agent?

We offer E-Mail notification for our Server Availability Monitoring service level.   With our Advanced Server Availability Monitoring and Peformance Monitoring services, we offer SMS messaging in addition to E-Mail notification.   With our SMS messaging, your account is credited with a limited number of SMS message per month. If your account generates more SMS messages than is allotted, you must purchase additional SMS credits for your account.   We will notify you via E-Mail when your SMS credits fall below 10 credits.

How often can I modify my notification schedule and agent monitoring interval?  And do I need to call you?

You can modify your notification schedule and monitoring preferences as often as you like.   Making modifications to your schedule and preferences can be performed using our control panel and do not require you to contact us.

How many websites can I monitor?

You are never limit as to the number of sites which can be monitored.   The number and type of agents available for monitoring is based on your service level agreement with us.   If at any time you need to increase or decrease the number of agents allocated to your account, you can contact us (an online mechanism is coming soon).

How do you determine if my website is up?

Each agent performs a series of tests and if any test fails, the corresponding agent generates an alarm.   You configure what that criteria is to some extent, but, for example, our TCP connectivity agent will generate an alert if it fails to make a TCP connection to the specified server.   Our other agents have more monitoring options and can be individually configured.

How am I notified of an alert on my website?

You configure how you receive notification via either E-Mail or SMS (cell phone text message).

Can I suspend monitoring my website server for a maintenance window?

Yes. Each server can be configured to have a separate maintence window and all notifications are suspended during the specified times.   The agent monitoring continues, and if an error occurs during the window and is not reset before the window closes, an alert will be generated.
